What a busy and happy day for us today! I'm going to ramble a bit to tell you why I'm so happy today....Before we came to Fort Benning GA, (about 21 months ago) we were stationed in Fort Campbell KY for four years. We arrived in May of 2003, my husband deployed to Iraq 2 weeks later and I was left in a new/strange town with 2 toddlers and 1 newborn baby! Talk about instant stress!
Well after about a months time I met what I now consider one of my best friends, Deborah who's husband was serving with mine over in Iraq. We became fast friends and stuck with each other for the whole four years we were stationed in Campbell which included another tour.
After our husbands returned from their second tour they were both picked up for new assignments. Ours brought us here to Fort Benning and theirs sent them to Fort Jackson SC. Well it's now been 21 months we've lived in different states but no longer!.....
Three months ago Deborah's husband received orders for Drill Sergeant here in Fort Benning GA and they arrived today! They sign for their on-post house tomorrow! I'm so excited to have my friend in the same state again! I can't wait to show her around and get back to our old ways! Watch out Fort Benning/Columbus GA!!! LOL
Anyways...on to my card for today. I actually made these cards a couple of months ago for a workshop. I started out making this masculine version which uses by SU Pocket Silhouettes but ultimately decided to demonstrate the feminine version.
To begin with I inked up my image using black craft ink. On the masculine one I clear embossed and on the feminine one I used iridescent ice EB powder onto kraft CS. I then matted that with some basic black CS.
The card base is done with kraft CS. I used some Urban Garden DP for the bottom half with a strip of basic black at the top and bottom. I then added some black grosgrain ribbon with a knot in it.
Lastly I stamped my greeting using black craft ink then adhered the main image with dimensional adhesive.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!! {SMILES}
Supplies: SU stamp sets Pocket Silhouettes, Eastern Blooms, Elegant Cheer, Warmest Regards. SU CS in kraft, basic black and Urban Garden DP. SU ink in basic black kraft. Clear EB powder, Iridescent Ice EB powder, ribbon, dimensional adhesive.
